When in Bali visit and help support the
Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal :)

"Mother and baby macaque monkeys snack safely in an ancient Balinese Hindu temple in the depths of the Wenara Wana (Padangtegal) sacred monkey forest, Ubud, Bali. The monkey forest sanctuary is run by villagers, in collaboration with the Balinese University of Udayana and the Balinese Macaque Project, which develops conservation strategies for Balinese long-tailed macaques. (The Project also involves researchers from the United States.) Hundreds of macaque monkey families roam free and are safe in this forest, and tourists paying to give them permitted snacks - mainly bananas - are helping to preserve the monkey's habitat and the economic survival of their protectors, the villagers: "They who practice austerity and faith in the forest".
